FAQs

When should I schedule my travel medicine appointment?

It's best to schedule your appointment 4 to 6 weeks before your departure to ensure you have enough time to receive all necessary vaccinations and medications.

Do I need travel vaccinations if I'm traveling domestically?

Travel vaccinations are generally recommended for international travel. However, if you are visiting areas with specific health risks, it's best to consult with our travel medicine specialist. We also offer services besides vaccines such as Traveler's Sickness Prevention, Motion Sickness Prevention, Altitude Sickness Prevention, and much more.

What should I bring to my travel medicine appointment?

Bring your travel itinerary, vaccination records, a photo ID, insurance card, and information about any current medications or health conditions. To save time upon your arrival, please bring your completed Travel Medicine Questionnaire.

Are travel vaccinations covered by insurance?

All travel medicine visits are self-pay, with payment due at the time of your visit.

If you have insurance, contact them so you are aware of your plan coverage. Your travel consult is billed as Preventative Counseling and cannot be billed as an office visit.

How much should I expect my visit to cost?

Our travel medicine consults are $150. This fee includes a comprehensive consultation with our board-certified physician, as well as any traveler's sickness prevention prescriptions, such as those for malaria prevention, altitude sickness, motion sickness, Traveler's Diarrhea, and more.

If vaccines are recommended, they are a separate cost. For a full list of our services and self-pay prices, please contact our office.

Can I receive vaccinations if I'm pregnant or have a chronic illness?

It depends on the specific vaccine and your health condition. Our travel medicine specialist will evaluate your situation and provide personalized recommendations.
